Adding a Cheap Remote to an Expensive DMX Lighting System

We have a client who moved into a house with existing DMX lighting in the bathroom with a Nicolaudie DE3 controller downstairs. He, however wanted to use his beloved Wise EVO RF controller brought from his last house to set the colour at the entrance to the bathroom.

The problem is that Wise EVO is an RF control, not DMX.  This got us thinking, what about all those cheap Chinese remotes, could they be used to control DMX, or even pixel LEDs?

After a bit of thinking we re-programmed our PixelatorPlus to accept PWM inputs, decode them and send them out as DMX, or for pixel strips, SPI. This simply feeds into the DMX router in the control cupboard, and two way control is now achieved.
